Seasonal Musings

September 22, 2011 by Julia Wright

Seasons end..

The 2011 growing season is coming to an end.. that doesn't mean this year's veg is running out. On the contrary, there's still lots of delicious treats to tickle your tastebuds!.. like Leeks, Cabbage, Carrots (orange, purple and yellow), Squashes, Parsnips, Beets, Celeriac, Broccoli, Caulies, Swedes and delicious crispy-sweet Sprouts! So plenty for your Autumn & Christmas table!

What I mean by 'coming to an end' is that, as the days get shorter and temperatures fall, we won't be planting so many more crops out in the fields. We are still busy plant-raising and planting undercover winter salads though, and these should be ready hopefully around Christmas/New Year and into early Spring, when the whole growing cycle begins again! Starting with our surprisingly SPICY salad bags!! Remember those!

So as we begin preparing for colder times, I thought I'd take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU :)  to all our customers who keep our little organic growing venture going! You are the food heroes!
